Founded in 1988, Child Development Schools is headquartered in Austin, TX operating over 260 childcare centers in 11 states. Our three early childhood education brands are Childcare Network, Sunrise Preschools, and My Small Wonders. We have a great opportunity for a District Manager-in-Training to join our growing company!

 

The District Manager-in-Training will participate in a 6-month program for development in leadership, business acumen and customer service.  The District Manager-in-Training will train alongside a tenured District Manager and Region Director and is expected to continue working in their current position during this training process.  Successful completion of the training program may result in permanent placement as District Manager when a position becomes available.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years as school director in a licensed childcare facility, and 3 years multi-school or multi-site management experience preferred.
  • Leadership of diverse teams, personalities, and expectations across assigned district. Demonstrated ability to acquire, influence, develop, coach, performance manage, and retain best in class talent.
  • Prioritization and organization of workflow and successful time management to ensure deliverable attainment.
  • Promote billing accuracy and the reduction of write-offs through training and education school administration team.
  • Ability to foster effective cross functional business partnerships. Champion of two-way communication - open to giving and providing feedback. Proactively and professionally suggest improvements regarding policy and procedures.
  • Strong conflict management/resolution skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, in-person and remotely.
  • Familiarity with state specific subsidy programs and possess ability to maximize revenue optimization through subsidy and private pay levers.
  • In depth knowledge of State Childcare Provider Licensing Guidelines and Regulations, and state specific accreditation requirements.
  • Strong in-person and virtual presentation skills.
  • Conduct a minimum of two on-site school visits per month in assigned district - utilizing school visit document and pertinent resources to review school performance. Highlighting areas of success and formulating a plan for areas of opportunity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Proven ability to lead through change while motivating district teams through mutual respect and the promotion of the CDS Values.
  • Develop School Directors in assigned district to achieve school level goals through establishing clear expectations, recruitment/selection/retention, succession planning, coaching, and accountability.
  • Meet and exceed family experience expectations by promoting quality educationally rich school environments that align with the CDS Excellence In Education Philosophy.
  • Ability to lead and empower district of 10 or more School Directors, potentially across multiple states.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills with direct reports, families, director supervisor, and functional business partners.
  • High level financial acumen possesses ability to utilize applicable data to analyze trends and craft strategies to meet targeted goals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and acts in accordance with CDS policy and procedures.
  • Act as liaison between schools and school support to ensure school level needs are consistently met.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with state regulatory agencies, subsidy agencies, new and existing vendors, and organizational sponsors.
