Requirements

You Might Be the Perfect Fit if You: 

  • Ensure the daily care of every child by following all licensing guidelines and implementing all company standards.
  • Maintain a fun and interactive classroom that is clean and organized.
  • Supervising children while following health and safety procedures for hand washing, toileting, handling bodily fluids, sanitizing toys and equipment, administering medication, serving food, and dealing with children's illnesses.
  • Present a welcoming attitude towards prospective families who tour the childcare center.
  • Engage with families having conversations about their child's education, and the features and benefits of our early childhood programs.

Experience and Education

 

Each teacher for a Pre-K class must have one of the following qualifications:

  • At least two years’ experience of teaching in a nationally accredited child care program or a Texas Rising Star Program and:
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or another early childhood education credential approved by the agency
  • A certification offered through a training center accredited by Association Montessori Internationale or through the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education;
  • An Associates of Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, or a related field with a documented minimum of 15 hours of coursework in early childhood education;
  • At least eight years’ experience of teaching in a nationally accredited child care program or a Texas Rising Star Program; or
  • Been employed as a prekindergarten teacher in a school district that has ensured specific prekindergarten professional development requirements have been met:
  • Has completed 150 hours of professional development in ECE-specific topics over a consecutive five-year period; 75 of the 150 hours being in a mentoring/coaching relationship or
  • Completes 30 hours of ECE-specific professional development annually with 15 of the 30 hours being in a mentoring/coaching relationship until 150 hours are documented

 

Skills

  • Knowledge of Texas Pre-K and TEA Early Childhood Education Requirements.
  • Ability to determine and prioritize demanding workload while being flexible to emergent/unplanned needs and situations.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, group dynamics, facilitation and collaboration.
  •  Ability to interpret, apply, and audit various policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in all staff, child and family interactions.
  • Ability to handle highly stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.

 

Physical Demands

  • Sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Manipulation of hands, arms, and fingers for pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 lbs regularly throughout the day.
  • Ability to get up and down from sitting on the floor or in a chair.
  • Balance, stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, running to be physically active at a child's level.
  • Ability and willingness to be exposed to weather conditions that are prevalent during outside.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Your Role as a Pre-K Assistant Teacher: 

This position involves providing high-quality educational experiences to enhance school readiness for Texas Pre-K students and complies with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements. The Pre-K Assistant Teacher will be responsible for creating an inviting learning environment, which fosters personal growth of all children, nurturing attitudes and guiding the development of skills and knowledge needed for future success in school. The individual selected for this role will also establish strong relationships with parents and staff helping families build strong ties between home and school.
